 Office 365 - MFA Setup


Log into Office 365 web portal https://login.microsoftonline.com

 

When the security message comes up, choose Next

                                                                 

From the additional security verification options:

Choose Authentication Phone from the drop-down list.

     

Choose the US and enter your cell phone number.

 

Choose Send a code by text message and click Next

 

Enter the security code that was texted to you and click on Verify

 

Office 365 automatically creates a one- time password for your use.  You can copy this one-time password by clicking on the copy button to the right of the password and paste it in a notepad for temporary storage.   


This code will be used to connect Outlook to Office 365 after MFA has been enabled. 

 

 


The one-time password is intended to be used one time to connect your Outlook mail to office 365.  Once this password is used and Outlook is connected, please discard this password and do not keep it in your records.  If you ever need to create a new one-time password, the steps to create a new one-time code are described in the section below:


 

Log into Office 365 web portal https://login.microsoftonline.com

 

Click your name at the top right and choose View Account.

 

 


 

 

 

 

Select Update Info under Security Info panel

 

 

 

Select Add Method

 

Click the drop down box and choose App Password
Click Add
